FAQ
Is there a subscription?
No subscriptions!
Where do I buy it?
- Steam — Windows, Linux, and macOS (wishlist now)
- Google Play — Android (coming soon)
- Apple App Store — iOS (coming soon)
Or, play the web demo for free. It works great for a quick local scene — stream it into Discord, or put it on a tablet at the table.
Is there a free version?
What’s the difference between the demo and the app?
Saving your session to files and syncing sessions with your party (multiplayer) are disabled in the demo. Other than that, the demo is the same as the app! The demo is for trying Daggermap in a WebGPU browser (most modern browser / OS combinations support it).
Can I use Daggermap for in-person games?
Yes. Sync a scene to a tablet or TV on the table, or run the web demo and point the screen at the group.
What TTRPG systems does it support?
Daggermap is system-agnostic by design. You can use it with any TTRPG system you want. Daggermap does not come with ability scripting or dice rolling, but supports a variety of grid types, snapping modes, and gridless play. It even has an isometric mode for 2.5D play. We try to expose settings that makes it quickly adaptable to any system. You can submit a feature request on our Discord if you think we missed something or need something specific for your system.
Does Daggermap work offline?
Yes! Everything except multiplayer is completely offline. Daggermap won't try to connect to anything unless you explicitly join a multiplayer room.
Does it have a dice roller / chat / character sheets?
No. What I left out.
Can I edit images and build battlemaps inside Daggermap?
Basic drawings can be made in Daggermap's Draw mode, which draws on top of the map. I use this for quick extensions to the battlemap and emphasizing key areas of interest, and you could rough-sketch layouts with it. However, it is not intended for map building. The intended flow is for users to build or obtain maps from their favorate tools and drop them into Daggermap when they are ready to use them as battlemaps or scene backgrounds. Furthermore, only one background image (battlemap) can be used per scene.
What hardware do I need?
- Desktop: Anything that has Direct3D 11 (Windows), Vulkan (Windows / Linux) or Metal (macOS).
- Android / iOS: specific device support has been setup with the Play Store and App Store.
- Web demo: a WebGPU-capable browser and system.
Is it open source?
No, the code and app binary are not public. However, the relay is free and open source: herald-broker.
